Monthly Progress Report For My Twitch Channel FuzzyJCats, October 25 Through November 24
Twitch Channel FuzzyJCats
Finally knowing and feeling that I want to stream for my community, and enjoying the process and challenges of improving stream content, as opposed to numbers grasping, I had a wonderful month streaming.
The first day back after my hiatus was rocky and rusty, but I felt the same joy I did the first month of streaming.
I wasn't upset about the drop in numbers (50% drop) as it was fun talking and socializing with chat. It also reignited my desire to improve which can be rather challenging. Being challenged and rising to the challenge makes me happy.
I set up a better schedule for myself, as discussed in the last monthly progress report, and streamed between 1 to 2 hours in the morning after exercise and chores, which worked extremely well for my lifestyle and well-being.
At first even 1 hour was difficult, so I don't know how I was able to stream 4 hrs starting out! But because of my new plan of stating only 1 hr, I can go over if I want to.
At any rate, the interesting thing about not caring about "success" in terms of viewers to the road of Partnership is that I felt more free and daring. I wasn't afraid of making mistakes so I can be more spontaneous.
There was a couple of moments during streaming near the end of November that I felt natural and effortless, though most of the time, I had to really focus and concentrate.
In terms of improvement, I would like to see myself typing less and incorporating ways to support my viewers who are streamers instead of "shouting out" which means typing their link in chat, causing the eyesore that is clutter.
I've noticed when watching streams, when chat gets clogged with auto-messages of auto-bots, it's harder to read what others are saying, as you have to scroll down. It's not aesthetically pleasing to see a block of text. That's the precise reason why I got rid of hydratebot, who reminds you to drink water.
Of course if someone raids and brings their viewers over, you must shout-out and thank the person. I think it's also kosher to shout out your team members. As a member of both Midnight Saloon and Pallet Town, as well as a participant of RoyaleStreamers, I'll have to be cognizant to use the shout-out commands.
Because I was more free, I noticed some of the "bad habits" slipping in, mainly filler words. Therefore, I want to be able to stream content by getting rid of filler words ("so", "now", "like", etc), and replacing them with more meaningful descriptive words. That will definitely improve my content.

New Amiga Adventure "Star Wars: Escape From Mos Eisley"
Those of you who grew up playing classic text adventures such as The Ship of Doom and The Hobbit, may be interested to learn that a new text adventure has just been released for the Amiga.
"Star Wars: Escape From Mos Eisley" is described by its author, Umpal as "Nothing special", and is his first Amiga release.
The game was originally announced on the Amiga.org forums, and so far discussion in the thread seems to be more concerned with copyright than the game itself. This isn't totally surprising when you consider the problems the author of Smurf Rescue encountered with his Amiga homebrew release.
If you'd like to find out more about the release (or join in the discussion) check out this thread over on the Amiga.org Forums. You'll also find a download link there.

Games Are More Than A Main Mechanism!
One of my favorite genres of game is the typical middle weight Euro. You know, those games that generally last about 45-60 minutes, have a clever main mechanism, a few supporting mechanisms, and not much else. Many games like this come out every year, some recent examples are Ulm with its sliding action tile grid, Barenpark with its tetromino placement, and Noria with its action wheel. Some of the games I've worked on recently fall squarely in this category as well, such as Pioneer Days with its dice draft, and my own Crusaders: Thy Will be Done with its Mancala-rondel. I like these games because it's fun to see clever new mechanics, and this genre often gets right to the point, showcasing the central mechanism in a fairly elegant way.
The down side of this genre is that so many games in it lack longevity, they're kind of disposable. Often times you play a middle weight Euro, and you find it pleasant enough. You enjoy it, maybe you play it a second time, but then you move on. The creme of the crop in this genre may stick with you, but many of these games are fairly forgettable. That doesn't mean they weren't good fun when you played them, and it doesn't mean that they're bad games or aren't worth your time, it just means that they didn't stand out among the crowd of new games. Blame it on the Cult of the New if you'd like, but it's a rare game in this category that continues to be played once the hype of its release has died down.
That's the thing about these middle weight Euros... the main mechanism can be very clever, but whether the game shines or not, whether the game is memorable or not, depends on how the supporting mechanisms work. As a designer, once you come up with a fantastic main mechanism, it's easy to get so focused on that hook that the rest of the game falls by the wayside and doesn't live up to its potential.
Nowadays, a new and clever central mechanism could satisfy the Cult of the New, garner positive reviews from board game media influencers in a rush to get their review up first, or even win awards from judges who just play once or twice. But for a game to have real longevity, that's not enough. The supporting mechanisms, and the rest of the game, need to be good and polished as well. So if you're designing a game in this genre, take this to heart... no matter how new, novel or clever your central mechanism is, don't neglect the rest of the game!
Come November, Crusaders will finally be hitting store shelves. I'm confident the Mancala-rondel mechanism is strong. I just hope I've done a good enough job with the rest of the game that it rises to the top of the genre rather than fading into obscurity!

Routing Information Protocol (RIP)
Routing Information Protocol (RIP)-
RIP is a standardized Distance Vector protocol, designed for use on smaller networks. RIP was one of the first true Distance Vector routing protocols.
· Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is a true distance-vector routing protocol.
· RIP sends the complete routing table out of all active interfaces
· RIP performs full routing-table updates every 30 seconds
· Update Timer by default 30 seconds
· Invalid Timer by default 180 seconds
· Hold-down Timer by default 180 seconds
· Flush Timer by default 240 seconds
· RIP has an administrative distance of 120.
· RIP use UDP port no 520.
· RIP selects best path using hop count.
· RIP has maximum hop count of 15 by default.
· RIP works good in very small network.
· RIP version 1 uses only classful routing
· RIP version 1 doesn't send updates with subnet mask information.
· RIP version 2 provides classless routing.
· RIP version 1 updates are Broadcast (255.255.255.255)
· RIP version 2 updates are Multicast (224.0.0.9)
· Authentication can be configured between RIPv2 routers
· RIP has enable Auto-summarize by default
· RIP use Bellman-FordDistance Vector algorithm to determine the best path.
· Any network that is 16 hops away or more is considered unreachable to RIP,
· A metric of 16 hops in RIP is considered a poison route or infinity metric.
· If multiple paths exist to a particular destination, RIP will load balance between those paths (by default 4 paths)
· if the metric (hop-count) is equal. RIP uses a round-robin system of load-balancing between equal metric routes.
· RIPv1 routers will sent only Version 1 packets
· RIPv1 routers will receive both Version 1 and 2 updates
· RIPv2 routers will both send and receive only Version 2 updates
RIP Timers: - RIP has four basic timers:
· Update Timer
· Invalid Timer
· Hold-down Timer
· Flush Timer
Update Timer: - Updates are sent every 30 seconds by default to the address 224.0.0.9.
Invalid Timer: - If they not get any updates for 180 seconds regards the any prefix it is consider invalid and the route will be poisoned, then router advertised the route with a metric of 16.
Hold-down Timer: - Hold-down Timer is by default 180 seconds. Hold-down Time indicates how long RIP will store a route that it has placed in a hold-down state. RIP will not accept any new updates for routes in a hold-down state, until the hold-down timer will expire.
Flush Timer: - Flush timer indicate how long a route can remain store in a routing table before being flushed, if no new updates are heard about this route. The flush timer runs simultaneously with the invalid timer, and thus it will flush out a route 60 seconds after it has been invalid.
